In the second picture you posted, it was quite invoking to read; When Vladek and Anja are heading to Czechoslovakia for the Sanitarium and they pass by a German town, this large flag hanging in the courtyard. It was the first time most of them had witnessed a Swastika, and the scene was quite heart wrenching, just due to the thought of all that was yet to come from this corrupt propaganda uprising. This graphic novel is so surreal through its consistent means of capturing the audience, and allowing them to become engulfed within the scene, to feel a true connection and understanding to the protagonists recollection. Indeed, the reception and impact of this book proves to be emotionally, mentally, and physically provoking.
ReplyDeleteThe sixth video that you posted, “Life After Maus with Art Spiegelman”, is a good interview to include as it not only discussed the memoir, Maus but also where it began for Art Spiegelman and it focuses even more on his after life of the memoir. Being that I researched his early years and adult life, I find that this video ties everything together.
ReplyDeleteI really like the video of a review of a book where they draw different elements of the book creating a nice summary. If I didn't already read the book this video would really make me interested and curious to read the story. All your articles and videos are very informative and help to really broaden your knowledge on the author and the story behind the story. Great job Jay!
